 2009 Scholarships Awarded to Exceptional Students
The Foundation for Rural Education and Development (FRED) awarded $72,500 in scholarships to some of the most outstanding students rural America has to offer. A total of 59 students were selected to receive scholarships from the organization. Over 160 applicants applied to this program this year. More

 Rural High School Students Take Part in Leadership Program
From April 19- 24, 2009, the FRED welcomed 14 high school juniors and seniors from rural America to Washington, D.C. As participants in FRED's Leadership Through Learning Program, the students had informational sessions at Washington landmarks, met with their congressional offices and attended daily seminars and workshops on the media, the political process and domestic affairs.
